Things to Do During Your Stay
Your Antiguan escape begins the moment you arrive. With beaches, marinas, hiking trails, and world-class historical landmarks just steps away, you’ll experience the very best of Antigua and Barbuda.
Take a Stroll to Fort Berkeley
Dating back to 1704, Fort Berkeley is the oldest fortification in English Harbour. Expanded during the 18th century to protect the naval installation, the fort now offers breathtaking panoramic views of the harbor and arriving vessels. Follow the short nature trail to explore the gunpowder magazine added in 1807 and enjoy front-row views of Antigua’s world-renowned sailing regattas.
Hike the Scenic Trails
Nelson’s Dockyard National Park boasts kilometers of hiking trails that wind through historic ruins, geological formations, and vibrant ecosystems. Maintained by volunteers from the Royal Naval Tot Club, the trails offer a unique way to connect with both Antigua’s natural beauty and its layered history.
Visit the Dockyard Museum
Originally built in 1855 as the Officer’s Quarters, the Dockyard Museum now houses fascinating exhibits on the British Colonial dockyard and ongoing archaeological discoveries. The beautifully restored Victorian building features personal belongings of Admiral Lord Nelson, including his famous telescope, along with an area dedicated to the military history of English Harbour. A must-visit for history lovers.
Rum in the Ruins
Experience history in an unforgettable way at this weekly archaeology and heritage talk hosted at Dow’s Hill Fortification and Interpretation Centre. Led by Heritage expert Dr. Christopher K. Waters, PhD, the experience explores 18th-century life, sugar and rum production, and Antigua’s place in the British Atlantic World — all while enjoying a signature Planter’s Punch at sunset.
